Songjiang Hosts Unicorns at Pujiang Forum

Recently, the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor in Songjiang hosted a sub-forum of the 2024 Pujiang Innovation Forum on innovation and unicorn development. Its goal is to support the expansion of unicorn companies into new industries and promote regional economic development.

About 100 representatives from unicorn companies, investment institutions, new economy experts and government officials from across the country gathered to exchange views, showcase achievements and discuss recent developments and future trends.

One of the unicorn companies, Huihe Healthcare, shared thoughts on the topic “Innovative Medical Devices: China’s Path to Peace.” Founded in Songjiang five years ago, Huihe Healthcare has achieved leading technological innovation in the fields of heart valve intervention, vascular intervention and electrophysiological intervention. Its CEO, Lin Lin, expressed delight at the company’s success, citing support from the Songjiang region. Huihe expects breakthrough sales this year.

Songjiang region has 81 national-level “little giants” in specialized and emerging industries, as well as 1,237 municipal-level specialized and innovative enterprises, one of the highest in the city. With research and development expenditure reaching 6.79 percent, mainly driven by enterprises, Songjiang’s business sector plays a leading role in promoting regional industrial development.

During the opening ceremony, Songjiang District Party Secretary Wang Huajie emphasized the district’s commitment to leveraging its position as the center of the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor. The district’s goal is to integrate education, technology and talent to achieve innovation and connect industries. It is planned to create a mechanism for identifying and developing fast-growing companies and build a comprehensive system for the development of the innovative industry. The district also plans to focus on building laboratories, research facilities, proof-of-concept centers and pilot production centers, as well as promoting high-quality incubators for 6G and satellite Internet.

In addition, Songjiang will focus on integrating advanced manufacturing and modern services, focusing on high-tech, intelligent and green industries. The company’s goal is to increase its competitiveness in areas such as next-generation information technologies, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, high-quality equipment and new materials.
