Greenwich Police are investigating a vehicle crash in the area of ​​Hillside Road and Fairfield Road.

The crash occurred around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, causing police to close Fairfield Road to traffic.

Lt. Patrick Smith of the Greenwich Police Department said police are investigating the crash.

“Due to a motor vehicle accident, the area of ​​Hillside Road and Fairfield Road will be closed while Greenwich Police investigate,” Smith said, adding that more information on that investigation will be released at a later date.

Police at the intersection of Fairfield Road and Old Church Road were directing traffic toward Old Church Road.

Around 9:00 a.m. traffic was backed up southbound on Old Church Rd from GCDS to Rte 1.

On Facebook, police posted: “Fairfield Road at Hillside Road will be closed for an extended period of time due to a vehicle accident. Due to the closure, school buses are changing routes.”
