WBBL: Perth Scorchers add Indonesian opener Ni Made Putri Suwandevi to roster under associated nation

Perth Scorchers have added an Indonesian fast bowler to their roster as part of a partnership between WA Cricket and the country’s governing body.

Ni Made Putri Suwandevi, a 26-year-old bowler from Indonesia’s national program, has been added to Perth’s roster under the WBBL’s Associate Newcomers rule.

It means Suvandevi, known as Tory, can play matches as a fourth-choice opener alongside New Zealand captain Sophie Devine, England batter Amy Jones and India’s Dayalan Hemalatha.

Devine and Hemalatha are both playing in the one-day international series between the two countries and will not be available for Sunday’s season-opening match against the Melbourne Stars.

Suvandevi took 49 wickets at an average of just over eight and an average of less than three in international cricket.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Perth Scorchers ahead of the WBBL10, one of the best Twenty20 competitions in the world,” she said.

“The WBBL is a competition that I have admired from afar for a long time and I am looking forward to taking part as a player this season.

“The Scorchers have been a successful club for a long time and I’m really excited about the opportunity to work with the playing group and coaches.”
