Empowering Rural India: Amit Shah Advocates for Co-op Expansion

Union minister Amit Shah has called for the integration of 6.5 million rural families into the cooperative dairy sector, seeking to end their exploitation through unfair pricing. Currently, only 1.5 million of the 8 million dairy-producing families are members of a cooperative structure.

Speaking at an event in Anand, Gujarat to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the birth anniversary of AMUL founder Tribhuvandas Patel, Shah highlighted the key role of cooperatives in empowering farmers, especially women.

Shah highlighted the transformative impact of the cooperative movement on rural and national development in India and urged the NDDB to focus on expanding membership and maximizing benefits for farmers.
