Former federal political officer Bruce Lehrmann has remained tight-lipped after being spotted meeting with his lawyer in Hobart today.

The Mercury followed Lehrmann on Tuesday to ask why he and lawyer Zali Burrows were in Tasmania but were “met with silence”.

It is understood lawyer Burrows recently arrived in the state after representing Lerman in the Federal Court in Sydney last week.

The former employee is appealing a judge’s ruling that it was likely he raped Brittany Higgins, and is also seeking a stay of Ten’s $2 million legal costs in the libel case.

Lehrmann has not been seen in public since he addressed the media outside Toowoomba Magistrates Court in June about the rape allegations.

The former Liberal Party staffer will later face trial in Toowoomba District Court on two counts of rape.
