CIB recommends issuing red notices to two, including Jyoti Gurung, for embezzling Mytheri Cooperative’s savings :: Setopati :: Setopati

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of Nepal Police has recommended issuing red notices to two people in connection with misappropriation of savings worth tens of millions of rupees from Miteri Savings and Credit Cooperative Society in Mahalaxmisthan, Lalitpur.

The CIB is investigating the theft of Rs 148.1 million from Mytheri Cooperative Society.

The cooperative filed a complaint against five people, accusing them of embezzlement. Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogati, CIB spokesperson, told Setopati that the CIB has recommended the police headquarters to issue red notices to two of them – Jyoti Gurung and Jyoti Bahadur Bhandari.

The INTERPOL office at Naxal Police Headquarters will look into the matter and request additional documents if necessary. If the documents are ready, the Interpol department will send a letter to Interpol asking them to issue Red Notices to both of them.

Jyoti Gurung is the ex-wife of Nepali Congress Vice President and MP Dhan Raj Gurung.

Dhan Raj says they are already divorced. But it turned out that until recently he was paying off a loan taken out by his ex-wife.

Although Jyoti and Dhan Raj divorced five years ago, receipts were found showing that Dhan Raj had repaid the loan in his Jyoti’s name until this year.
