U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton leadership recognized employees for exceptional service during the Fiscal Year 2024 Third Quarter Awards Ceremony Oct. 15 at the Pierce Community Club Fort Hamilton.

Garrison Commander Col. Melissa Cantwell presented the awards along with Garrison Command Sgt. Major Christopher Hill and Deputy Garrison Commander Raymond Santiago.

Garrison also recognized graduates of its leadership group; a six-month program aimed at developing future Army civilian leaders. The graduates, who were each awarded a Civil Service Medal, included Joan Amassiadis, Anabelle Arbini, Wilfredo Atiles, Amit Babulal, Wei Chen, Ola Foy and Eileen Mora.

The garrison community recognized employees for their years of service in federal service:

5 years: Kristina Fijalkevich, Janel Harris, Kathleen Kilcommons, Javier Li Fung

10 years: Joan Amassiadis

15 years: Susan Blair, Ola Foy, Trevor Lowe, Mohammad Tufail

20 years: Eileen Mora, Carolyn Pilagonia, Benito Rodriguez

25 years old: Raymond Santiago

35 years old: Andrea Vazquez

45 years old: Michael Ingram

Seven employees received the Equal Service Award, also known as the Garrison SERVICE Award: Amit Babulal, Kristina Fijalkevich, Ola Foy, Danien Gerardi, Mark Getman, Jonathan Smith and Marvin Torres.

Certificates of Achievement were presented to Anabelle Arbeeni, Joanne Amassiadis, Susan Blair, Geraldine Calaunan-Terpin, Pamela Calimlim and Brian Riveragesus for their participation in the change of command ceremony at Fort Hamilton.

Justin Butt, Herbert Korn, Trevor Lowe, Adriana Mitchell, Brian Riveragesus, and Charles Williams received Letters of Appreciation for their support of the summer internship program.

Wilfredo Atiles and Peter Comito were awarded Certificates of Merit for their leadership in the summer internship program.

Civil Service Medals were awarded to:

– Geraldine M. Calanan-Turpin for her work on the change of command ceremony at Fort Hamilton.

– Drew Cavosi for his service as a building control representative.

– Richard Rucker for leading the summer internship program.

– Yumi Korn for her dedication to the Children and Youth Services Center.

– Marvin Torres has been appointed Civil Servant (not Supervisor) of the 3rd District.

Fort Hamilton also received the Army Senior Unit Award for support during the COVID-19 pandemic from February 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021.**
