St. Anthony wins 1A boys golf state title, 8th in T-Town,

The Effingham St. Anthony High School boys golf team won the Class 1A state golf championship Saturday for the third year in a row at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington.

The Bulldogs scored a total of 312 on Friday and moved on to Saturday’s game where they scored 300 for a total of 612 points and captured the state title as Teutopolis finished eighth in the standings.

Other teams competing were Fulton 619, Port Byron Riverdale 621, Rockford Lutheran 629, Breeze Mater Dei 630, Quincy Notre Dame 636, Carthage Illini West 643 and Teutopolis 328-321 – 649.

Riverdale’s Aidan Dorathy won the individual title with a score of 74-69 – 143. St. Anthony’s Joey Trupiano finished 10th with a score of 77-73 – 150.

Also competing for the Bulldogs were Jack Swingler 37-41 – 78, Ryan Schmidt 78-77 – 155, Dakota Flaig 80-78 – 158, Maddux Clark 83-76 – 159 and Alec Hackman 79-87 – 166.

Teutopolis finished eighth with a total score of 328-321-649. Cohen Pennington finished 10th with a score of 77-73-150.

Also competing for wood shoes were Isaac Weber 79-77 – 156, Colin Habing 83-90 – 173, Drew Hoehn 88-87 – 175, Brodie Toele 91-85 – 176, Hayden Tebben 90 Friday and Nolan Schumacher 92 Saturday.

Effingham competed in Class 2A at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington and finished ninth as a team with a 326-319 overall score of 645.

Competing for hearts on Friday were Max Seachrist (40th with a total of 157), Jude Traub (44th with 159), Leo Wyckoff (59th with 163), and Brody Boehm (67th with 167). , Cannon Bockhorn (80th) with 172 and Ryden Schneider with 88 on Friday.

In the Class 1A girls state tournament, Effingham St. Anthony placed fourth as a team with a total score of 684.

Addie Crouse was 19th at 162 and Brooklyn Phillips finished 28th at 169. Also competing were Gianna Frisby, 37th at 172, Tesa Ludwig 60th at 181, Adria Moberly 65th at 185 and Mia Schwing 81st. I’m from 199.

Ella Tuman of Effingham finished 54th with a score of 180.

Teutopolis had two players compete: Briley Bloomer was 53rd with a score of 180 and Molly Habing finished the first round with a score of 100.
