South Bend’s leaf collection program begins Monday.

South Bend’s leaf collection program begins Monday.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Fall is in full swing and the City of South Bend will begin a leaf collection program on Monday.

The city says crews will make two passes to collect leaves in blocks, street by street.

The city is divided into zones (see map below). Crews will collect all the leaves in one zone before moving on to the next, which officials say can sometimes take several days depending on the zone.

You are asked to follow the following leaf collection guidelines:

  • Leaves should be raked on the tree lawn, NOT outside, by 6 a.m. on the designated date.
  • The leaves should be free of sticks, debris and other debris, otherwise they will be impossible to collect.
  • Cars should not be parked on or in front of leaf piles along the curb.
  • Burning leaves is prohibited and is a violation of city ordinances.
