Pokemon Go Halloween Events Include New Max Raids, Costumed Pokemon, and More

Halloween is still over a week away, but… Pokemon Go players can start the celebration with a two-part in-game event. Part 1 is officially underway and marks Pokemon Go Morpeko’s debut. Morpeko is the first Pokémon in the game that can change its form during battle. After using the Charged Attack Aura Wheel against Team Rocket or in the Go Battle League, Morpeko will switch from Full Belly Mode to Hungry Mode. The Pokemon cannot be found in the wild, but will appear through rewards in the Go Battle League.

It wouldn’t be Pokemon Go A Halloween event without any ghost types, players can expect to see a whole bunch in the wild, including Shuppet, Misdreavus, Drifloon, Litwick, and more. In addition to ghosts, dark-type Pokemon will also feature prominently. Players can expect plenty of encounters with Zorua in the wild, and they’ll have an increased chance of finding Shiny! Please note that Zorua does not appear on the map like other Pokémon; it will look like the Pokemon that is your current buddy. Players will also have an increased chance of finding Shiny Umbreon when fighting it in three-star raids. During both parts of the event, players will receive double candy for their catches.

Gastly receives quite a lot of attention in the first part, as the Pokemon currently appear in one-star max battles. If players manage to get it, it will mean that Gastly, Haunter and Gengar will be able to use Dynamax and use them in other Max Raids. Gigantamax Gengar will also start appearing in six-star max battles, but they won’t start until October 31st at 10am and will last until November 3rd at 8pm local time.

Part 2 Pokemon GoThe Halloween event starts on Monday, October 28th at 10am and runs until November 3rd at 8pm local time. Many of the bonuses will remain the same in the second half, but costumed Pokémon will begin to appear in the wild and in raids. Players can expect to see returning costumed Pokémon like Pumpkaboo and Vulpix in Spooky Festival costumes, as well as Pikachu in a witch hat and Piplup in a Halloween costume. Both Froakie and Rowlet will be participating this year along with their evolutionary forms. Froakie and Rowlet in Halloween costumes will appear in the wild, in one-star raids, and can also be obtained from egg hatches. The latter will give players a better chance of finding Shiny!

A special limited-time research dedicated to the Ghost-type Spiritomb is currently available. This research will be available until the end of Halloween Part 2. Players can also check out the paid timed research. The $1.99 Premium Timed Costume Party Explorer includes encounters with costumed Pokémon, including early access to Rowlet and Froakie ahead of their October 28 debut. There is also a Morpeko Onesie Premium Timed Research ticket for $5. This includes everything included in the Timed Costume Party research, plus triple candy on catches and an encounter with Morpeko. Last but not least, those who purchase the ticket will also be able to receive one of two new Morpeko avatar items: a Jumpsuit based on the Full-Belly mode or a Jumpsuit based on the Hangry mode. These items can also be obtained in the store without purchasing a ticket, where they are individually priced at 400 PokeCoins.
