Srinagar- An overnight fire in Khihama area of ​​north Kashmir’s Kupwara district left several families homeless as four residential houses out of 10 structures were reduced to ashes, officials said on Wednesday.

Citing officials, news agency KNO said the fire broke out around midnight, damaging at least 10 structures, including four residential buildings, three cowsheds and three shops.

Firefighters fought the fire for several hours. Five water tankers from Payerpora, Kupwara Headquarters, Trekhgam, Drugmulla and Tekipora fire stations were deployed in the firefighting operation.

No injuries or deaths were reported as a result of the incident.

However, the cause of the fire is being established, and local police have begun to investigate.

Meanwhile, residents have expressed concern over the devastating loss and called for immediate compensation for the affected families.
