There will be more recreational opportunities in our city

Mayor Frank Carbone at Avenel Fitness Park

Investing in recreational facilities is an investment in our future by providing opportunities to live healthier, more active lifestyles. That’s why we’re delivering a $4.2 million fitness park on the corner of Avenel and Sackville streets in Canley Vale.

I am pleased to say that work at Avenel Fitness Park is progressing steadily and once completed, residents will be able to look forward to some of its state-of-the-art facilities including a multi-use sports court, skate park, and walking green. and outdoor exercise equipment, as well as walking and running paths, and open spaces for group exercise.

By creating more fitness opportunities across the city, we aim to make it easier for everyone to incorporate physical activity into daily life, regardless of age or fitness level.

In the meantime, we are also continuing to transform the Fairfield Showground as we plan to create a community and entertainment hub unlike anything our city has seen before.

The facility will include upgraded facilities as well as expanded event spaces and indoor sports courts, making the fairgrounds a premier venue for community events, cultural celebrations and entertainment events.

The council recently held a community consultation to find out what residents would like to see in the site and the feedback received is now being taken into account when developing detailed design plans. You can find draft concepts on our website: Fairfield Showground Community & Event Center | Fairfield City Council (nsw.gov.au).

These initiatives are part of our ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents. Our goal is to create vibrant, inclusive spaces that will benefit our community for years to come, and I can’t wait to see these exciting improvements come to life.
