Others were more upset by the decision and expressed anger at Scott, citing that it disrupted their travel plans. Fans who flew into Auckland from other parts of the country said they had to fork out hundreds of extra dollars to change flights, while many others were likely to have to do the same.

“I’m mad as hell, just spent $600 on new flights,” one person said on X, while another wrote, “Travis Scott is rescheduling a week before I fly out to see him… damn.” *these American artists who are planning to come here are simply canceling or rescheduling their performance.” A third person on Facebook said he had to spend $700 to change his flight to a new date.

Ticketmaster has also come under scrutiny for the tour update. The company posted a link with the new details on its Instagram story, but it was deleted shortly after. According to people on the ticket resale Facebook group, fans only started receiving emails notifying them of the change, despite the Ticketmaster website confirming the date change around 12:30 p.m.

“How did I only find out about this through this group and not through Ticketmaster?” one person was questioned.

Several people explained on the page that while they may be able to get a refund on their tickets, they are more concerned about the cost of flights and accommodations. One Kiwi living in Australia wrote that he was flying in from the Gold Coast, adding that the revised date would now cost him “a fortune”.

Concert-goers who are unable to attend the revised date can now request a refund through Ticketmaster, although these requests must be made by 5pm on Tuesday 29 October.

Scott was due to visit New Zealand for the first time in October 2016. However, due to “unforeseen obligations” Sick mode the rapper canceled his performance at Powerstation in Auckland the day before and returned to the United States.

Next week’s concert will be the first time the star has returned to Aotearoa to perform since its infamous cancellation in 2016.

After two years of producing and releasing mixtapes, Scott entered the mainstream music scene with his debut album. Rodeowhich rose to third place in the ranking Billboard 200. Since then, he has released three more studio albums, all of which managed to reach number one on the same chart.

His latest album Utopiawas released last year and became the best-selling hip-hop release of 2023, amassing over 50 billion streams worldwide.

The rapper once hosted his own music event called Astroworld Festival, which he started in 2018 in his hometown of Houston. He was headlining the 2021 festival, which was attended by 50,000 people, when a stampede occurred that left 10 people dead and hundreds injured.
