Adelaide Fringe unveils 2025 poster – The Note

The 2025 Adelaide Fringe Festival poster was unveiled today. The unique design, created by artist and printmaker John Peder, marks the countdown to the largest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere.

A poster titled “Are We Almost There Yet?” became the first woodcut poster to win a poster competition since the Adelaide Fringe Festival began more than 60 years ago. Pedder made the bold poster in his backyard studio, featuring colorful characters representing the diversity of the festival.

“I’m honored to have been selected as the Adelaide Fringe 2025 poster winner. I love Fringe festivals and how inclusive they are for all artists,” Pedder said in a statement. “For me, there is a connection with these characters and the Fringe competition poster, One for All and All for One, and the print reflects the many artistic disciplines that visitors will be able to experience at Australia’s largest arts festival.”

As this year’s winner, Pedder will receive a tasty $10,000 in prize money (the largest ever awarded to a winner) thanks to community partner Lumo Energy. He also receives free registration to host his own exhibition during the Fringe and has his work featured in Fringe press materials.

Lumo Energy CEO David Holman said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with the Adelaide Fringe by supporting the 2025 Poster Competition. John Peder’s work is an outstanding representation of the creativity and diversity that Adelaide Fringe embodies. The poster plays an important role in setting the tone of the festival and we are proud to provide a cash prize to recognize and celebrate this unique talent. We look forward to seeing John’s work around the city as we count down to Fringe 2025.”
