Police search after woman assaulted child at East Victoria Park shopping center

Police have appealed to the public to help find a 21-year-old woman they say attacked a child in a Perth shopping centre.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon when a mother holding her baby at Park Center in Victoria Park East was approached by a woman wearing a pink tank top.

Dramatic CCTV footage of the incident released by police showed the woman rushing towards the mother, then reaching out and attacking the child as the mother tried to turn away from her attacker.

After this, the woman in the pink top fled the scene.

Random Attack: Police

Police identified the alleged attacker as Pamila-Ray Jetta and said she was unknown to her mother.

Constable Imran Ishak told ABC Radio Perth that locating Ms Jetta was a top priority due to the nature of the incident.

But he warned not to approach her.

“We have established her identity through rigorous investigative techniques. We are working hard to find her,” Detective Ishak said.

“If members of the public see her, we want to remind members of the public to exercise caution and remain vigilant.

“We are simply advising members of the public not to approach her.”

Mr Ishak said the toddler was not seriously injured in the incident and said both mother and child were receiving support.

Police said Ms. Jetta had a medium build with short, bleached hair.

She was wearing shorts and a pink tank top when the incident occurred.
