Man charged with 10 felonies in St. Louis shooting that injured child

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A man is facing 10 felony charges more than a year after a child was shot and killed.

Jaking Quantez Waller, 21, is charged with five counts of armed criminal action, four counts of first-degree assault and one count of drive-by shooting.

The 6-year-old was shot June 12, 2023, near McLaren and Goodfellow, according to police. After the shooting, the girl’s condition is assessed as stable.

Charging documents say video evidence and DNA evidence helped identify Waller as a suspect.

Waller had previously been arrested for carjacking and robbery. He also reportedly has pending criminal charges of property damage and theft, and is wanted in connection with felonies in St. Louis County.
