Why is October 22 the worst astrological day of the month?

Why is October 22 the worst astrological day of the month?

Astrology has exploded in popularity in recent years, especially among millennials and Gen Z, with many people turning to the stars to gain insight into their everyday problems. If you’re feeling under the weather on October 22, astrologers point to a chaotic mix of planetary energies as the culprit.

Astrologer Lisa Stardust explained that Mercury in Scorpio clashing with Saturn retrograde in Pisces can make it difficult for people to express themselves. Feelings of being stuck, frustrated, and anxious may arise, leading to emotional outbursts or meltdowns. She added that the Libra Sun is square Pluto in Capricorn, which adds to the tension. The Libra Sun seeks approval from others, while Pluto in Capricorn seeks to destroy old structures. This clash can cause hidden problems and envy to come to the surface.

Meanwhile, Venus in Sagittarius forms a conjunction with Chiron, which is retrograde in Aries, bringing up insecurities and old wounds. In the evening, Venus aspects the Nodes of Destiny on the Aries-Libra axis, pushing us to make decisions regardless of whether we are ready or not. Because relationships or situations can end abruptly or take an unexpected turn, Stardust recommends affirmations to counteract this intense energy.

Moon in Cancer, usually caring, will also feel the tension. Its moodiness can be amplified by greater astrological chaos, leaving us emotionally raw and overly sensitive. Stardust called this a great water trine, usually a stream of creativity that gets confused by the strong influence of Mercury and Saturn, leading to doubt and ambiguity.

At 6:14 pm ET, the Sun enters Scorpio, sharpening our intuition and deepening our emotions. Fashion Astrologer Alice Bell notes that Scorpio season is a time of reflection, when people tend to re-evaluate what’s working in their lives. This shift can push people down new paths and encourage them to move away from what no longer serves them, Bell wrote in her Substack newsletter. Astrology with Alice.

To add intensity, the Sun spends the day on the Via Combusta – the “fire path” of Libra and Scorpio – an astrological zone traditionally considered a harbinger of bad luck.

Although astrologers associate the energy of October 22nd with the movements of the planets, it could also simply be a difficult day. However, with approximately 70 million Americans reading horoscopes daily, astrology’s influence on our worldview is undeniable.

Scientific American indicates that astrology has no scientific basis, but many believe otherwise. Psychologist and astrologer Dr. Jennifer Fried told Very Well Mind that astrology offers guidance in times when traditional institutions fail.

“As humans throughout the ages, we have always sought to understand our existence and give meaning to our lives,” Fried said. “Astrology is the oldest system of attempts to understand existence, personalities and our personal destinies.”

Researchers note that a belief system is often a coping mechanism, especially during difficult times such as breakups, losses or global crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic. Believing in an external force can provide a sense of control when there are few answers, especially on days like October 22, which seem universally chaotic.
