South Hamilton’s volleyball season ends 3-2 against Ogden – KQRadio


The South Hamilton Hawks volleyball team returned to action Monday night, opening its Class 2A, Region 5 bracket by traveling to western Boone County to take on the Ogden Bulldogs in the West Central Activity Conference. South Hamilton entered with a 7-24 record and Ogden with an 8-16 record.

South Hamilton jumped out to an early lead in the first set before Ogden made a big push to retake the lead. The Hawks rallied late in the set, but Ogden held on for a 25-22 win. However, South Hamilton rallied to win the second set 25-20 and then won the third set 25-21. Ogden would get up off the mat and go on to win the fourth set 25-20 before the Bulldogs used a late run to take the fifth set for a 3-2 win.

KQWC’s top player was South Hamilton sophomore outside hitter Tessa Skartvedt, who finished with a game-high 15 kills, 2 aces and a block. Claire Hewitt finished with 7 kills and 3 aces, and Sarah Scheller finished with 6 kills and a block.

Ogden will take on No. 5 Aplington-Parkersburg (2A) on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. South Hamilton’s season would end with a 7-25 record.
