This recognition is both an honor and a motivation for cooperative members to strengthen production ties, improve product quality, and contribute to agricultural development and rural modernization in the region.

The Tuy Loan Safe Vegetable Production and Consumption Cooperative, which originated from the Tuy Loan Vegetable Club, was founded in 2002 by the Hoa Phong Commune Farmers’ Union, starting with 14 households on an area of about 1 hectare.

In 2011, the Farmers’ Union, in coordination with the Commune People’s Committee and the Da Nang Cooperative Alliance, established the Tuy Loan Safe Vegetable Production and Consumption Cooperative, specializing in safe vegetable production and consumption as well as agricultural tourism services. After 13 years, the co-op now has 40 members working across 8 hectares.

Through hard work, many farmers have overcome poverty and achieved stable incomes, like Ms. Tran Thi Anh, who lives in Hoa Phong Commune. Previously, her family was experiencing financial difficulties, and her husband had an unstable income working as a bricklayer. In 2011, she joined the cooperative and began growing vegetables such as spinach, pumpkin and St. John’s wort in the fields of Tui Loana. She sells her products to a cooperative, earning VND5-7 million a month, which has helped her family escape poverty and support her four children in university studies.

Mr Nguyen Van Thanh, director of the Tuy Loan Safe Vegetable Production and Consumption Cooperative, said the cooperative has helped farmers secure markets for their produce, promoting production and providing permanent jobs for 60 local workers.

Every year, the cooperative supplies more than 500 tons of vegetables to supermarkets, convenience stores and schools, generating an annual income of VND 65-75 million per member. This success lifted nine family members out of poverty and helped another 15 households achieve stable incomes.

According to Mr Tan, the cooperative regularly works with experts to train its members to produce safe, organic agricultural products that meet VietGAP standards.

Currently, the cooperative’s products are certified as OVOP products. In addition, the cooperative has invested in a 1,000 square meter high-tech hydroponic vegetable system, as well as fruit trees, shade plants and hospitality facilities to offer agritourism services.

Every year, the Tuy Loan Safe Vegetable region attracts more than 8,000 students and tourists from both domestic and international markets, increasing brand awareness and creating jobs while increasing the income of local workers.

The co-op continues to expand its high-tech hydroponic vegetable growing and develop traditional artisan villages, aiming to double visitor numbers in the coming years. For its outstanding achievements in production and economic activities, Thuy Loan Safe Vegetable Cooperative has received many awards from both central and local governments, including a certificate of honor from the Da Nang People’s Committee in 2022 and an excellent competition flag from the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance . in 2023.

“We are proud to be awarded the title of National Model Cooperative for the first time by the Vietnam Farmers Union. This is both an honor and a well-deserved result for all members of the cooperative who have worked hard in production and business. ” said Mr Tan.

Da Nang Farmers’ Union President Nguyen Huu Thiet said that Tuy Loan Cooperative for the Production and Consumption of Safe Vegetables is one of the outstanding cooperatives in the city established through the efforts of the Farmers’ Union.

Over the 13 years of operation, the cooperative has advanced agricultural production, increasing the quality of agricultural products supplied to the city market. It is noteworthy that the agricultural tourism model attracts a large number of students and tourists, contributes to increasing local income, and actively participates in the new process of rural development.
