‘WE’RE EXCITED’: HINCHINBROOK PUBLIC SCHOOL RECEIVES FUNDING FOR NEW SHELTER

Hinchinbrook Public Schools Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) has successfully secured a grant of $60,807 to build an all-weather shelter along the inner walkway at the Keppel Circuit entry gate.

Member for Liverpool, Charishma Kaliyanda, joined staff, students and members of the school community to celebrate the successful grant.

The project is one of several funded by Liverpool voters under the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership (CBP) program. The CBP program invests in infrastructure projects that produce positive social, environmental, and recreational outcomes.

The successful grant application at Hinchinbrook Public School follows months of work by P&C, including raising more than $15,000 through school initiatives.

The shelters will be built over the Christmas holidays and students, staff and parents will be able to take advantage of the new facilities when they return for the 2025 school year.

Quotes from MP Charishma Kaliyanda, Member of Parliament for Liverpool:

“I am delighted to be able to provide funding for Hinchinbrook Public School.

“Grants for projects like this highlight the important role that P&C associations play in advocating for their school communities. I encourage all P&Cs across the electorate to explore how they can apply for grants to improve their schools.

“It has been truly wonderful to see students, along with parents and staff, actively contributing to making Hinchinbrook Public School a better place to learn.

“I look forward to returning to Hinchinbrook Public School next year to see the project come to fruition.”

Quotes from Karen de Falco, Principal of Hinchinbrook Public School:

“Student voice has been a key driver of discussions with our P&C. Our student leaders are invited to speak at the beginning of P&C meetings, presenting ideas from K-6 students for school improvement.

“The value and integrity of our students in bringing issues to the table gives our future leaders the opportunity to collaborate in areas that meet the needs of our entire school community.

“A great example of this is the construction of a walking path providing covered access for our students, staff and parents, which would not have been possible without the support and dedication of our P&C and such a generous grant from the State Government.”

Quotes from Daniela Galgocy, P&C President, Hinchinbrook Public School:

“We set our P&C goals at the beginning of the year and have remained committed, always keeping the team motivated using our hashtag #forthekids.

“Raising money to fund a much-needed footpath canopy from the Keppel Highway entrance has been both a priority and a passion project for us, especially for me in my role as President.

“We are very proud of our achievements this year and receiving this grant means we can get the job done faster and continue to support the school and the needs of the students. We are delighted! “
