Haridwar, October 19: The Haridwar district administration today took serious action against encroachments in Mirpur village of the district. The district administration today demolished an illegally constructed religious structure resembling a mazar in Mirpur village. This construction was carried out by encroaching on the Tehri Dam Rehabilitation Project area of the Rishikesh Irrigation Department.

It may be recalled that this demolition was carried out today based on the strict direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to take very strict action against encroachment on government property in the state.

On the directions of Haridwar District Magistrate Karmendra Singh, the encroachment was removed by the administration under the leadership of SDM Ajayveer Singh. Heavy police forces were also present during the demolition. According to information provided by the Haridwar district administration, this alleged religious structure in the form of a mazar has been constructed by illegally encroaching on two bighas of land belonging to the irrigation department of the Tehri Punarniwas Dam project of Rishikesh Mandal in Ranipur Kotwali district. The encroachment has been eliminated.

Providing further information, District Magistrate of Haridwar Karmendra Singh said that the district administration is seriously carrying out the anti-encroachment drive as per the directions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He said that Mirpur village of the district has about 97 hectares of land, of which two bighas belong to UP Irrigation. The department transferred this land for temporary agricultural lease, which expired some time ago. Meanwhile, some people built religious structures similar to the Mazar there. The seized land belonged to the Department of Rehabilitation.

Karmendra Singh said that a request has been received from the Director of Rehabilitation to clear the land from encroachments. In response, a notification was sent to the attackers. Having received the notification, the attackers promised to demolish the illegal building on time, but it has not yet been demolished. As a result, the administration took action and demolished the illegal structure on government land.
