WHAT? NSW Health has issued a public health alert urging former clients of Fresh Cosmetic Clinic, an aesthetic clinic in Sydney that is now closed, to get tested for blood-borne viruses.

DETAILS The warning follows an inspection by the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District which found serious infection control failures, including unlicensed people performing invasive procedures. Clients may have been exposed to viruses such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.

WHY? This public health alert highlights the dangers associated with cosmetic procedures performed by unlicensed practitioners who do not have proper infection control protocols.
