Chennai: Tamil Nadu is moving ahead with its plan to register inclusive growth with a slew of projects in business segments with a focus on tier-II and tier-III cities. Chief Minister K Stalin, soon after assuming office in May 2021, said that his government would focus on developing tier 2 and 3 cities and metros for inclusive industrial growth across the state.

The Industries Department is focusing on creating high quality and high remuneration jobs in all corners of the State by setting up manufacturing facilities of automobile companies, TIDEL mini parks and State Industrial Development Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) industrial parks, among others.

Some of the important projects that are gaining importance are the Rs 9,000-crore vehicle manufacturing plant at Ranipet of automaker Tata Motors, setting up of Neo Tidel Parks, boosting infrastructure creation of an electric vehicle manufacturing plant by Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast in Tuticorin and others.

“One of the main pillars of Tamil Nadu’s (DMK chief and chief minister’s) Stalin-era industrial growth is distributed growth and the world is now watching this vision unfold.” This was stated by Minister of Industry TRB Rajaa.

“Over the last 3 years, we have made a conscious effort to attract large investments outside established centers like Chennai. We have laid the foundation for growth in regions like Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Delta, North Western and Northern districts including Ranipet. and brought new energy to regions like Coimbatore and Trichy.” he noted.

Apart from automobile manufacturing units, Tamil Nadu, to get a bigger IT pie, is attracting a large chunk of IT companies to set up shops in MiniTidel parks in tier 2 and 3 cities including Tuticorin, Thanjavur and Villupuram districts.

According to industry experts, TIDEL neo-parks are comparatively smaller in size than TIDAL parks located in the metro. TIDEL neoparks are being developed to house IT/IT enabled service companies as this will not only stimulate the growth of the region but will also provide employment opportunities to the locals. “TIDELNeo in Tuticorin is fully leased even before its official opening. Chief Minister Knesset Stalin will soon inaugurate a fully occupied Tidel mini park,” Rajaa said.

“Tamil Nadu is the state that has the highest availability of highly skilled manpower and the infrastructure required to ensure that talent gets jobs. Hence TN Talent Capital of India.”

Spread over an area of 4.16 acres, the mini IT park offers 50,937 sq. ft. of workspace equipped with first-class amenities including an integrated building management system and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) solutions.

A similar TIDEL Neo Park has been opened in Thanjavur and it has achieved 100% occupancy with companies booking spaces to set up at their premises.

As the demand for setting up new offices in Tier 2 locations is increasing, especially in Thanjavur, the industries department is also planning to take up the expansion of TIDEL NeoPark Phase 2 to meet the demand.

“This is a new milestone in Thanjavur’s industrial growth as we continue to attract companies and create more employment opportunities for Tamil Nadu…,” he said.

Similar to the establishment of TIDEL NEO parks in Tuticorin and Thanjavur, the government has expanded its presence by establishing the first MiniTidel park in Villupuram district.

The opening of the Mini-TIDEL Park at Villupuram will mark a significant leap and underscores the government’s commitment to distributed growth across Tamil Nadu by providing IT infrastructure and creating employment opportunities to enable youth to access high quality jobs in their respective fields. hometowns.

TIDEL mini-parks can accommodate around 500 IT professionals, equipped with air conditioning, high-speed Internet, uninterruptible power supply and much more.

Another major investment brought in by the Tamil Nadu government to boost industrial growth is Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast, which has invested Rs 16,000 crore to set up an electric vehicle and battery manufacturing plant in Tuticorin.

In the first phase, VinFast will invest Rs 4,000 crore over the next five years, which will create 3,500 jobs in the Tuticorin region. After commissioning, the plant will be able to produce 1.50 thousand cars. Apart from NEO TIDEL vehicles and fleets, in a bid to give a boost to the development of renewable energy, TP Solar Ltd, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, has started manufacturing solar cells at its largest facility at Tirunelveli, thereby helping domestic production of cells and modules required for solar conversion light into electricity.

Commencement of commercial production of 2 GW solar cell line at Tirunelveli manufacturing facility. The company has earmarked nearly Rs 4,300 crore for the facility. Solar cells and modules produced at the facility will initially be used in the company’s ongoing projects, further strengthening its supply chain.
