Exciting news: The Australian Junior Tour will be renamed the De Minaur Junior Tour, reflecting a new level of commitment to the next generation of Australian talent, led by Australian No. 1 tennis player Alex De Minaur.

As part of De Minaur’s commitment to developing the future stars of Australian tennis, he is working with Tennis Australia to create a scholarship program designed to support successful juniors, ensuring they have the resources and mentorship needed to succeed.

“The purpose of this whole scholarship is to try to provide a pathway for young athletes and help them transition and improve their careers,” De Minaur said.

“As a child, it was very important for me to come to Europe and see competitions abroad. He taught me many lessons about everything I had to work on – routine, work ethic, professionalism – that ultimately helped me throughout my career and shaped who I am today.

“Mentorship is very important and I have been fortunate to have learned a lot from my mentors over the years. I want to pass on the knowledge I have gained throughout my journey and help young Australian athletes improve and become the best version they can be.”

The two winners in each age group (one boy and one girl from the 12 and 14 age groups) will automatically receive a De Minaur Junior Tour Scholarship.

Another athlete will be given a scholarship to participate in a program called the Alex De Minaur Spirit of Tennis, which is awarded to a player who demonstrates key values and behavior throughout the tournament.

“We are thrilled to be working with Alex on this incredible initiative,” said Tim Jolly, Director of Strategy and Performance at Tennis Australia.

“The rebranding of the De Minaur Junior Tour, together with the new scholarship program, will further enhance the development opportunities available to our young athletes, helping them reach their full potential and be competitive on the world stage.

“Alex’s passion for Australian tennis and the next generation is demonstrated by his commitment to supporting these young players. Not only will they have the chance to compete for national titles at this event, but they will also have the opportunity to learn from Alex himself, gaining invaluable insight from one of our leading tennis professionals.”
