Taylor Swift fans slam Scott Borchetta as ‘fraud’ for post celebrating sale of her masterpieces

Taylor Swift fans have criticized Scott Borchetta for being a “fraud” after the executive took a trip down memory lane to celebrate 20 years since he met the singer.

“Today marks the 20th anniversary of my first meeting with Taylor. The day that changed our lives,” the Big Machine Records founder captioned a photo posted to Instagram on Saturday.

“This photo was taken two nights later at the Bluebird Cafe. You can see the back of my head, bottom left, the T, and then Andrea (Swift) across the room…

“Always proud of the art and work she did while we were together… and just as proud of her now. Keep crushing it… xx,” Borchetta, 62, concluded.

Borchetta celebrated the 20th anniversary of his first meeting with Swift with a throwback photo on Instagram.

Despite his seemingly heartfelt message, fans of the Grammy-winning singer criticized the music executive for his infamous history with the 34-year-old pop star.

“This is so funny. behavior that requires attention. scam,” one Swiftie wrote.

“This makes me sick 🤢 he is so rude he tries to make amends online and still uses her,” added another.

Others called the tribute “so desperate” and “sooo awkward.”

The “Bad Blood” singer signed with Big Machine Records in 2005 when she was 14 years old, becoming the label’s first female artist.

In June 2019, Swift stated that she was “furious” after learning that Borchetta had struck a deal with Scooter Braun for her music catalog as part of the latter’s acquisition of Big Machine Label Group.

The $300 million deal sparked drama between the trio, although the pop hitmaker later told Vogue in August 2019 that she wasn’t trying to buy her master recordings.

“It was either investing in my past or investing in my future and the future of other artists, and I chose the future,” she said at the time.

Later that month, she appeared on Good Morning America and discussed plans to re-record her first six albums in order to preserve her music.

“I’m really excited about this because my contract says that starting November 2020, which is next year, I’ll be able to record albums 1-5 again,” the “Cruel Summer” singer said.

“I’m really excited about this because I think artists deserve to own their work. I’m just really passionate about it.”

Since then, Swift has kept her word and released four re-recorded albums.

In 2021, she released “Fearless (Taylor Version)” and “Red (Taylor Version)”. In 2023, she followed this up with “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”

Fans are now waiting for the release of “Reputation (Taylor Version)” and “Taylor Swift (Taylor Version).”
