Knicks ready to trade for Bucks superstar for 5 million, new report says

Did the New York Knicks acquire Karl-Anthony Towns only to trade him for an even more dominant NBA superstar?

It sounds crazy, but that’s exactly the rumor circulating around the league after ESPN’s Marc Stein released a shocking report on Sunday, as reported by Bleacher Report’s Andrew Peters.

“The New York Knicks are reportedly being considered as a potential suitor for Giannis Antetokounmpo,” Peters said.

“According to NBA insider Marc Stein, New York was considered a “close trade candidate” for the Milwaukee Bucks star, although Stein noted that was before the Knicks acquired Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

However, after the trade, “more than one rival team” “wondered aloud” whether the Knicks had made a deal for Towns to later use him in the Antetokounmpo deal, according to Stein.

“After the Bucks won the championship in 2021, trading Antetokounmpo seemed like a ridiculous scenario. Three years later, this could be the best move for both sides.”

“While Towns, 28, could turn New York into a serious threat in the East, the Knicks would likely have no qualms about trading him if it meant acquiring a player like Antetokounmpo.”

With things looking bad in Milwaukee, the Knicks are likely keeping an eye on the situation, if only to make sure the Miami Heat don’t stick with Giannis.

Wherever Antetokounmpo lands – if he leaves Milwaukee at all – it will lead to a major power shift in the NBA, especially since Giannis won’t leave unless it’s because of a rival.
