Grim Man United news for West Ham means things could get even worse

West Ham welcome Manchester United to London Stadium this weekend in what is known as “El Saquico”.

I think it’s fair to say that no manager in the Premier League is under more pressure this season than Julen Lopetegui at West Ham and Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

Lopetegui has been the focus of the media’s attention since the 4-1 win over Spurs.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s 2-1 comeback win over Brentford put to rest ongoing speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s position.

Ironically, Lopetegui was linked with a job at Manchester United over the summer.

Some Hammers fans may be wishing the Red Devils could land him.

West Ham have won just two Premier League games under the Spaniard so far.

The sheer size of Manchester United means the pressure on Ten Hag is far greater than Lopetegui faces at West Ham.

Make no mistake, however, the brutal demolition of their biggest Premier League rivals has once again heightened the tension for the former Spain and Real Madrid boss.

A few weeks ago, the prospect of facing Manchester United would have been a welcome prospect for most clubs, including West Ham.

To all the world it looked as if Ten Hag was getting ever closer to leaving Old Trafford.

Grim Man United news for West Ham

Before West Ham’s 4-1 win over Ipswich before the October international break, it looked like there was a fight for the P45 between Lopetegui and the Dutch Manchester United boss.

However, everything has changed.

As a result, Manchester United’s grim news for West Ham means things could get even worse.

West Ham’s hugely disappointing start to the season means Lopetegui will simply have to produce a surprise result or two sooner rather than later.

However, Manchester United have lost only once in their last eight matches.

Yes, the Red Devils face a tough meeting with Fenerbahce on Thursday night before Sunday’s trip to the London Stadium.

But Ten Hag suddenly had top-class players who showed excellent form.

Marcus Rashford played what many considered his best game in a long time against Brentford.

He created more chances in this game than in any other in five years.

Ten Hag’s team had 23 shots against the Bees.

This seems very ominous for West Ham given their penchant for conceding goals.

But Rashford isn’t the only Manchester United star to be fit in time to face the Hammers.

Rasmus Hoylund scored a goal and impressed both fans and experts.

Alejandro Garnacho did the same.

Manchester United trio and Kudus absence pose problems for Lopetegui

This front line coming into its own in tandem is bad news for West Ham.

Just when Lopetegui thought it couldn’t get any worse, there’s every chance it will.

When Manchester United come to east London it’s always a big game.

But while Manchester United appear to be getting into a groove, West Ham still look like a team of strangers.

The Hammers scored three goals in eight minutes against Spurs. It could have been four out of nine if Son Heung-min hadn’t hit the post.

West Ham are so bad that they have a must-win game against Manchester United.

This will never be a good place, no matter the quality of Manchester United.

West Ham’s midfield is completely dysfunctional. As a result, Bruno Fernandes can have a great time.

Add to that the fact that Niklas Fullkrug is still out for a long period of time and Mohamed Kudus is suspended, and it all looks pretty bleak.

Lopetegui will have to do everything possible to convince many fans and the media that he is the right man for the job.

All signs of Manchester United coming to town suggest there will be no respite this weekend.

The situation may get worse before it gets better.
