Drivers have been baffled by the most effective method of defogging their car windshields, with some motorists still blindly fiddling with air temperature controls in moments of panic.

Determined to put an end to this problem, a TikTok user named @thecompletelytheorytestkit offered a how-to guide.

She advises: “In wet weather, if you have heated windshields, turn them on. Alternatively, use the heated air conditioner and point it at the windshield.

“Gradually increase the temperature every few minutes to clean the windshield. The reason you use hot air is due to the temperature difference between the inside and outside of your car.”

Commenting on the video, one user said: “Oh my god, I’ve always struggled with this!” Another chimed in: “Hot air and air conditioning, this will clean up faster. However, unfortunately, I have to wait for the heat to kick in when I first start the car in the winter.”
