Fourth graders compete in a “hot” fire safety poster competition

PARIS, Texas (KXII) – On Wednesday, October 30, the Paris Fire Department presented prizes to 24 fourth grade students from 8 Lamar County schools who participated in the annual Fire Safety Poster Contest.

Every October, during Fire Safety Month, each school gives awards for the best 3 posters, which are judged by Paris firefighters.

Each poster is judged on originality, clarity, neatness and content.

The poster, made by Blossom Elementary School student Lincoln Oates, received the most votes and was named overall winner. His poster included drawings, attached objects such as a real smoke detector, and short reminders such as “Stop, Drop and Roll” and “Plan an Evacuation Route.”
