OR robots allow surgeons to push boundaries

A scalpel-wielding droid may seem like something out of a Star Wars film, but robots are becoming increasingly common in Australian operating theatres.

Victorian Geoff Rohde became the first person in the Asia-Pacific region to undergo complex microsurgery with the help of a new generation robot called Simani when the “man-sized machine” performed a complex reconstruction of cancer on his left leg in August.
