What’s at stake in the current elections?

What’s at stake in the current elections?

It seems trivial to say that this is the most important election of our lives. But now it feels like this. Here are a few things that I believe will be at stake in 2024 that will be important to those who share a biblical worldview.

  1. The value of human life

One party celebrates abortion until the moment of birth, although they do not admit that they want it until the moment of birth. The other camp wants to allow some modest restrictions on abortion.

Abortion devalues the value of human life. As Mother Teresa once stated, “If we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill each other?”

If the life of unborn children is cheap, then life in later stages is also cheap. If the lives of unborn children are of no use, why should people too old to contribute to society be kept alive?

  1. Religious freedom

America was founded for religious freedom. For the most part, those who came to these shores were dedicated Christian nonconformists. As the Puritans and other colonists of the northeastern New England Confederacy put it in 1643, “We all came to these parts of America with the same purpose and purpose, namely, to advance the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.” and enjoy the freedoms of the Gospel in purity and peace.”

Religious freedom in America then spread to other groups. But today we see that religious freedom is under threat. Peaceful pro-lifers face harsher penalties for pro-life speech than convicted criminals.

Vice President Kamala Harris was recently asked how unrestricted abortion rights should be. Should Catholic hospitals be forced to perform abortions against conscience? She replied that there should be no restrictions on abortion. Period. To hell with conscience.

  1. Israel

While Donald Trump has been compared to Adolf Hitler ad nauseum, the reality is that Trump has been and remains a far greater friend of the Jewish state than the Biden-Harris White House, which often treats Israel as an enemy. Although many previous presidents promised to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Trump actually did so.

Since the brutal attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which Hamas tortured and killed Israeli men, women and children, Biden-Harris’ support for the Jewish state has been rather tepid.

In the spring of 2024, as college campuses, including many Ivy League schools, were engulfed in anti-Semitic protests, the Biden-Harris team began coddling them.

Many commentators have argued that Kamala did not choose a better candidate, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, as her vice presidential running mate so that she would not offend Arab Americans.

  1. Free speech rights

It should be noted that some on the left view the Bible as hate speech. And they believe that “hate speech” is not protected by the First Amendment, or they believe the First Amendment is outdated.

Many on the left have said the First Amendment is an obstacle to their goals.

  1. Transgender problem

Another question on the ballot: “What is a boy?” “What is a girl?” We see this become apparent when many public school teachers and administrators try to hide from parents what is being taught in schools. This conflict is perhaps most acute over the transgender issue, where the left says gender is fluid.

This perception prevents many girls from succeeding in women’s sports. Somehow, the image of a volleyball being dunked by a biological male at a girls’ school competition comes to mind. This type of ball can travel 80 miles per hour, and something similar happened to a girl in North Carolina who was knocked out by it. The Olympics featured a 46-second unfair (and dangerous) boxing match between a woman and a transgender man. Seems extremely unfair.

  1. Teaching True American History

The United States of America was a noble experiment. It can be summed up in one phrase: Self-government under God. On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate its 250th anniversary. Will it be “morning in America” or “mourning in America”?

Who we vote for in elections will say a lot about our vision for the future of the nation. And I haven’t even mentioned borders, economics, inflation and rampant crime. There are also two competing views between the two candidates on these fronts.

It is a battle between worldviews, one of which values the individual, parental rights, the sanctity of human life and free enterprise. While the other values huge taxes, gender fluidity, creating a wedge between parents and children, giving up national sovereignty.

Christian, don’t sit back. There’s too much at stake.
