John Leguizamo failed to sway Latino Trump voters on ‘The Daily Show’ despite his ‘inflammatory’ rhetoric

In a clip from “The Daily Show” this week, actor John Leguizamo failed to convince a group of Latino Trump supporters to change their minds.

The comedian went undercover as a member of Trump’s super PAC to speak with six “undecided” Latino voters who were considering voting for the former president, despite Leguizamo calling his “inflammatory” rhetoric.

“Trump’s rhetoric about Latinos is darker than a 12-hour chocolate mole. But does it matter to these voters?” Leguizamo asked in voiceover.

He first asked the group what they liked most about Trump, who is trying to become the second president ever to win non-consecutive terms.

JOHN LEGUISAMO SAYS TRUMP IS WINNING SUPPORT OF RELIGIOUS LATINOS BECAUSE THEY’RE ‘HOMOPHOBES’

“He’s not evasive,” said one male voter. “Quite obviously, I mean, this is a man who has been on the front lines speaking his mind for a very long time.”

“When he was in government, the economy was better than it is now. This is the only thing I like,” the voter added.

Voters also said they were unconvinced by support from Latino celebrities such as Bad Bunny and, surprisingly, Leguizamo himself.

The comedian began showing clips of Trump’s comments regarding illegal immigrants, such as his promise to launch “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.” Apparently, the commission agreed with Trump’s plan.

“This is a great way to solve a very, very serious problem,” responded one voter.

“What do you like about deportation?” asked Leguizamo.

“You have criminals. They all need to be removed, don’t they?” – the voter specified.

Another voter said: “If he says immigration is a problem, it’s like your house has a leak. You need to turn off the water supply, fix it, and then turn it back on. Maybe that’s what he’s trying to do.” like, let’s close the border for a while.”

“But who would you call to fix the leak if all the Latinos left?” Leguizamo joked.

He then showed a clip of Trump saying illegal immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.” Voters were less pleased with the comments, calling them “poison” and admitting that “he could have used better words.”

“We all misspoke sometimes,” said one voter.

“He speaks from the heart,” Leguizamo responded.

Another voter added, “It’s stereotyping Latinos, it’s stereotyping immigrants, and the more you demonize people, it doesn’t bring us together.”

One panelist said he would “prefer not to see” such comments and said they are the reason “a lot of people will tell you they don’t like them.”

“Now I understand. Trump can only be accepted if you never see or hear him,” Leguizamo said in voiceover.

At the end of the segment, Leguizamo opened up and made one last attempt to change their minds.

“Now that I’ve shown you all these terrible things about Trump, will it change your vote?” asked Leguizamo.

All voters unanimously answered: “No.”

In late October, a USA Today/Suffolk University poll showed Trump leading with 11 percent among Latino voters.
