Dave Donaghy, Ezra Mam’s car crash, drug test, Brisbane Broncos future, contract, Corey Oates

Contrite Broncos star Ezra Maham has sought “immediate professional help,” his management says, amid speculation over the future of his $4 million contract.

Mom faces the prospect of having his four-year, $1 million-per-season contract with the Broncos ripped out after he was allegedly driving under the influence of drugs when he was involved in a head-on crash with an Uber driver. Last Friday night.

Mama’s management released a statement Monday night confirming he had sought help. Courier-Pochta reported that he “voluntarily entered a rehabilitation center” on Monday morning.

“Ezra is extremely remorseful,” Mam management said in a statement. Courier-Pochta.

“He is concerned primarily for the other parties involved and understands the enormity of the current situation.

“He acknowledges that he has faced some personal challenges and, following these recent events, has taken the proactive step of seeking immediate professional help.

“We will continue to support him throughout this process and will not be making any further comment at this time.”

Brisbane Broncos chief executive Dave Donaghy broke his silence on the matter earlier in the day.

Speaking on his 4BC morning radio show, Donaghy spoke about Mam’s future at the Broncos, saying that while no decisions have been made, the incident is being taken very seriously.

“We haven’t had a deep internal discussion, we want to make sure we have all the information so we can make the right decision,” Donaghy told radio host Peter Fegan.

“But of course, from a club point of view, we are very disappointed to find ourselves in this position.”

Donaghy said the mom was remorseful because the Broncos playmaker’s main concern was the well-being of the Uber driver and passengers, including the child.

“In my conversation with Ezra, he apologized for putting the club in this position and, of course, he was concerned about the well-being of the others involved in the accident,” Donaghy said.

“He is a young man, he is 21 years old. But unfortunately, in this industry you have to grow up quickly. It’s a very privileged role.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Mame’s future, Donaghy made clear the Broncos are focused on addressing the cultural and behavioral issues that have contributed to the club’s poor season, which culminated in the sacking of club legend Kevvie Walters and his replacement by Michael Maguire.

“We’re certainly clear that we want our program to be performance-oriented,” Donaghy said.

“We don’t want it to be a lifestyle thing, and we know it’s going to take a hell of a lot of hard work.”

Donaghy is confident new coach Maguire has the right approach to instill discipline in the playing ranks and get the team to perform at their best on and off the pitch.

“He has a proven track record and he certainly holds himself to a really high standard,” Donaghy said.

“But it’s not just about Michael, it’s about the whole club, me, the staff that surround Michael and, of course, the playing group – the senior players.

“I’m not going to shy away from the fact that I believe we have some cultural problems. And that’s an area that we’re going to invest in and really get stronger.”

Recently retired Broncos offensive lineman Corey Oates said Mam was having a hard time dealing with a massive car accident he was involved in, which he felt was out of character.

“I’m very close to the guy, so I was a little worried about it,” Oates said.

“I tried to contact him, and I was on the phone with several people who were also trying to contact him.

“I know this is definitely not him and not something he ever thought he would have to deal with.

“I just know he’s going to be absolutely shocked, being the young guy and the person that he is.”
