Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden fought back tears as her celebrity partner JB Gill scored his first tens on the series on Saturday night.

Professional dancer Lauren Oakley, who is currently without a celebrity pairing in this year’s BBC One dance competition, entered the dance with JLS star JB, 37, after his partner Amy, 34, fell ill while filming last weekend.


Amy is said to be “feeling much better” after health concerns forced her to miss Sunday’s results program after being taken to hospital and she missed out on this week’s competition, although she was in the studio on Saturday night in support of his celebrity. Lauren’s partner and partner.

After her performance, Amy fought back tears, especially when JB scored his first top ten of the series with an impressive 39 points. Amy said: “I’m so grateful to you Lauren,” adding: “I wish I could have been there for you, you were amazing!”

Taking to Twitter now X, viewers were quick to support Amy as one person said: “I adore Amy, she deserves the world and more #strict,” while another wrote: “Seeing Amy cry made me cry lol. She had to be like this.” on the dancefloor #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly,” while another account added: “Aww Amy #Strictly,” with heart emojis.


Before the performance, Amy wished JB and his dance partner Lauren “absolute luck” ahead of Saturday’s live performance, reports Wales Online.

In her Instagram post, Amy wrote: “Wishing these two the best of luck tonight. I will be your biggest cheerleader. @jbgill says it all, how you were able to adapt to a new professional, create such a large number (so glad everyone sees this) while you support me. You are a star.


“I know what tonight means to you. Thank you. @laurenmayoakley thank you, I knew Jay would be in good hands and have a great time with you. You know I’ve always loved your dancing ever since I ran up to you in Blackpool. Tower at eight years old I want to say thank you, dear.

“@lizzie.gough for putting on such a brilliant program! I love her. Thank you. Also thank you so much for all the love and support I received last week. I am so grateful and of course it helped. Now tune in for Strictly’s first ever Icon Week.”

On Monday, a Strictly spokesman said: “Amy Dowden MBE is doing much better and the Strictly family sends her love and wishes her well.

“She is thrilled that fellow professional dancer Lauren Oakley can come to rehearsal and perform in Saturday’s show for the couple’s favorite JB Gill dance. “We all hope Amy comes back to dance with JB next week.”

The dancer returned to the show this year after undergoing treatment for stage three breast cancer, including a mastectomy and chemotherapy. In February, Amy said tests showed she had “no signs of illness.”
