Rockies acquire Owen Miller from Brewers

Rockies acquire utility player Owen Miller from brewers for a cash reward, reports Kurt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (link X).

Miller is a veteran of four MLB seasons, playing for Cleveland in 2021-22 and then for Milwaukee the last two seasons. After playing in 280 games over his first three seasons, he appeared in just 14 games at Show in 2024, posting an OPS of .407 in 27 appearances. The Brewers designated him for the job and then cut Miller from the 40-man roster back in July.

With just a .239/.287/.345 slash line in his major league career 1,015 years ago, Miller’s defensive versatility was a much bigger calling card than his bat. Miller appeared at least once at every position except catcher and center field, although most of his playing time came at first and second base.

Miller currently has no minor league options, limiting his usefulness to the Brewers and perhaps the Rockies or other teams moving forward as he fights to remain on the Major League roster. There is no risk for Colorado to acquire an experienced defenseman who can help at multiple positions, especially if Brendan Rodgers is being sold, and the Rocks have a growing need for a plot of land.
