Man seriously injured in attack in Droylsden after ‘car chase’

A man has been seriously injured after being “attacked with a weapon” in what police say was a car chase and subsequent crash.

Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to the tram stop on Edge Lane, Droylsden, at approximately 20:10 GMT on Friday.

Police said initial investigations revealed that two speeding cars were seen heading towards Manchester “in what is believed to be a pursuit”.

“The car subsequently crashed and the man inside was assaulted,” police added.

No arrests have been made and the man remains in hospital.

Children’s leader Anna Barker said: “We are currently investigating the full circumstances of the violent incident that occurred last night.”

She said “several officers” were involved in the investigation.

“Although the man suffered serious injuries, we are fortunate that we are not talking about an even more serious outcome and we are determined to find those responsible,” she added.

Anyone with information should contact Greater Manchester Police.
