Briarfield Youth Center faces a £100,000 funding gap

Briarfield Youth Center faces a £100,000 funding gap

The council’s report said: “According to Bodies in Motion, this shortfall occurred despite ‘cost engineering’ of the project aimed at making it as affordable as possible under current funding constraints.”

“If Pendle Council approves the support package, the Youth Investment Fund may also provide additional funding.”

But it said providing funding outside normal processes “could set a precedent by raising expectations in communities that the council would be able to make significant grants for community projects”.

“While the council fully welcomes such projects, it is unfortunately unable to offer any financial support,” the report said.

Pendle Nelson, Briarfield and Ridley councilors will review the situation at their meeting next week.
