Former director backtracks on Salah exit verdict with two words on ‘quite possible’ transfer after new demand

Former Liverpool sporting director Jörg Schmadtke believes one possible next destination for Egypt international Mohamed Salah is “quite possible”.

SalahThe player’s long-term future at Liverpool is in doubt as he enters the final year of his contract.

It remains to be seen whether he will dedicate his future Liverpool after the end of this season. Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are in the same boat and it has been reported that the latter is just weeks away from leaving the Premier League giants.

Salah may be more likely to stay at Liverpool than Alexander-Arnold. but according to Football InsiderThe striker has reportedly demanded a “mega-money three-year” contract.

“The Merseyside giants are not concerned by reports that the 32-year-old has already agreed terms with the Saudi club.

Liverpool believe Salah’s first choice is to extend his current deal, which runs until the end of the season.

Sources say the record-breaking 32-year-old forward wants “three more years” at the club where he achieved legendary status thanks to his goalscoring exploits. “In that case, he will be at Anfield until the summer of 2027, when he turns 35.”

Liverpool manager Arne Slote has remained coy recently when asked about Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk. However, he acknowledged that they “could become a problem.”

“The contract situation could become a problem if the players don’t perform as well as they are,” Slote said.

“Also, I’m not sure if they don’t perform that well again that it has anything to do with the contract situation.

“At the moment all three are in good condition, all performing very, very, very well. There are ongoing discussions between people that Virgil said he had to talk to, and as you know, it’s not me. I talk to him about other things. Let’s wait and see.”

Several European giants have been linked with Salah in recent months, but there has also been speculation that he could move to the Saudi Pro League.

Schmadtke, who left Liverpool earlier this year, explained why a move to the Saudi Pro League is “entirely possible”.

“I don’t know, but it’s quite possible that this will happen,” Schmadtke said.

“The Saudi League is growing every year due to more and more money being invested in the competition.

“The Saudi league deals have affected some European clubs, but it is not to the point of being harmful and I would welcome a job there if I get a good offer.”
