The Raiders should bring back these free agents in 2025

The Las Vegas Raiders have an intriguing offseason ahead of them.

The team’s season isn’t over yet, but with a 2-6 record and still tough games on the schedule, it doesn’t look like that’s going to change at this point.

Many in Raider Nation are ready to move on from the season and focus on what lies ahead. Head coach Antonio Pierce’s team has plenty of cap space and an expected high draft pick next year.

One of the most interesting elements of the Raiders’ offseason is the number of free agents they have going forward. The Raiders have eight starters or starting-level defensive tackles set to hit the open market.

Which three of these free agents are the most important?

Let’s name these three Raiders and see which ones Las Vegas should definitely bring back.

Midfielder Robert Spillane – The Raiders discovered the theft in March 2023 when they signed Spillane to a two-year, $7 million contract.

This turned out to be one of the greatest deals in recent memory. Since then, Spillane has racked up 227 tackles, ranking among the top 10 among defensive backs. It is no exaggeration to say that Spillane was one of the best halfbacks in football.

Spillane will turn 29 next March, meaning his best football is still ahead of him. Even if the Raiders become less competitive for a few years, Spillane could still be a key member of this team.

Security Tre’von Moehrig – 2022 has been a tough year for Moehrig, but the last two seasons have proven that he is a foundational piece of this defense.

In 2024, Moehrig totaled 52 tackles, four career passes defended, and two interceptions. He has been one of the Raiders’ best players this season.

Moehrig is only 25 years old and has been a regular for the Silver and Blacks for the past two seasons. He should command a solid market, but the Raiders shouldn’t let him go.

Cornerback Nate Hobbs – Another cornerstone of the Raiders’ defense. Hobbs was an elite force in the Raiders’ secondary.

Hobbs has 38 tackles, two for loss, five passes defensed and one interception. The Raiders need some stability on defense, and that’s exactly what they need. Hobbs provides.

Hobbs is only 25 years old and should have a market with teams looking for a defenseman. The Raiders should make him their quarterback of the future and not let him leave.
