Wrong about Steelers ‘deaf’ HC Mike Tomlin

Wrong about Steelers ‘deaf’ HC Mike Tomlin

A real man must admit he is wrong. Whatever you think of Colin Cowherd, that’s exactly what he did.

One of Cowherd’s biggest topics heading into the 2024 NFL season was the state of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I think I was very wrong about Pittsburgh… We always thought they were incredible, but I think what Mike Tomlin has shown over the course of this season (and this is where I am wrong) is that I always felt he was a little deaf to insults. ” Cowherd said Thursday on the Colin Cowherd Podcast. “But by giving up Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph and Justin Fields, who all had winning records, and going with Russell Wilson, I think it shows he’s more knowledgeable than I thought he was.

Cowherd continued by saying he knows defensive coaches may struggle with the urgency of the quarterback, but Tomlin understands the gravity of the situation. He gives Tomlin the flowers he deserves for making a move that many Steelers fans and the media opposed.

“I think even though they were winning… it’s hard for a coach to make changes when you’re winning, right? It’s like you’re going to destroy something; we are four and two; I’m not going to disrupt the locker room. To come in and say: Guys, there should be five and one of us. We’re a better team than this.

Cowherd knows, as does Steelers Nation, that Wilson is not who he once was, but what he is capable of. While Cowherd favors the Baltimore Ravens, he believes the Steelers Maybe win the division.

While the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals are not who we thought they were, records are thrown out the window when the rubber meets the road between division rivals.

The Steelers have a tough task ahead of them in coming out of another team unscathed and making the playoffs, but with Tomlin at the helm and Wilson improving, the sky is the limit.
