Pizza. Amazon. Weed.

What do these three have in common? They can all be delivered to your home, making marijuana delivery just a little easier. Delivery rules in Massachusetts have changed so that weed can now be delivered to one person instead of two.

Devin Alexander, CEO of delivery company Rolling Releaf, told Wicked Local media partner WCVB Channel 5 that the changes are welcome.

“This will essentially cut our wages in half,” Alexander told WCVB. “Instead of laying people off, we’re just going to buy more vehicles. This will help reduce customer waiting times and expand our scope of activities. We will be able to deliver goods to places we have not been before. I can’t deliver earlier.

Here’s what you need to know about the change.

How have the laws on weed delivery changed?

Previously, marijuana delivery required two people in one car.

Deliveries can now be made by one person per vehicle as long as the retail value of the cannabis in the vehicle is less than $5,000.

Two drivers can still carry up to $10,000 worth of goods upon delivery.

The rule was put in place as a precaution but has been criticized for increasing the costs of cannabis delivery operations.

When will the new rules come into force?

The rules are expected to go into effect later this month after a public comment period.
