Haven Homes launches ‘Adopt a Room’ campaign | Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Texas — A Texarkana nonprofit that helps people overcome addictions and reenter society is now building a new facility for women.

Haven Homes recently launched the Adopt a Room campaign to help furnish rooms at the new rehab center established in 2013.

Over the years, the women’s program has grown and needs more space. The new center will be able to accommodate up to 30 women.

“It won’t be as crowded and they’ll have more time in class. Teachers will be available in the conference room and library. We will have a workshop,” said Lissa Freeman, Haven Homes facility director.

Freeman says the new rehab center will have 10 bedrooms, a living room, bathrooms, a dining room, a media room, a prayer room, a library and more.

The Adopt a Room campaign invites community members to sponsor private rooms at the facility. Volunteer Janet Cox says renting a dorm room with three beds and all furnishings would cost about $2,000.

The non-profit organization wants to provide each woman in their program with a safe and comfortable place to heal and rebuild their lives.

“Some rooms are only $500 and some are $2,400. It varies. And for those who don’t have that much money and you can just give $25, you can go to our website. and just make a donation. Anything will help,” Cox said.

Over the past few years, hundreds of women suffering from drug and alcohol addiction have benefited from Haven Homes’ services. The center has an 87% success rate.

“It changed their lives. We have women who go to college, graduate from college, have full-time jobs, have their children back, and just have their self-esteem back. They gain confidence and courage to be the women God created them to be. be,” Freeman said.

The new Haven Homes for women is expected to open early next year.
