Texas college football teams are home to some of the best running backs in the country.

Week eight brought a slew of memorable performances from the best the Lone Star State has to offer.

UTEP’s Jevon Jackson was the state’s leading rusher for the week, rushing for 148 yards in the Miners’ first win of the season.

Texas State’s Ismail Mahdi paced the Bobcats’ offense, passing for 139 yards in the loss, while Baylor’s Bryson Washington and Texas Tech’s Taj Brooks dueled, rushing for more than 100 yards each.

Brooks has now rushed for over 100 yards in all six games he has played this season. The veteran is thriving in his pursuit of the all-time Red Raiders program rushing record. After another strong performance, he is 364 yards away from breaking the mark.
