Northamptonshire Waspi woman says neglecting her budget is a ‘kick in the chin’

Mary Jones, who is also a member of the Northamptonshire group, said it was “absolutely amazing” to be in Westminster on Wednesday.

“We did everything we could to let them know we were there,” she said.

“We were bitterly disappointed, but fortunately after that quite a few MPs came out and talked to us and gave us so much hope.

“They told us to keep going and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. We will never leave.”

Wasp groups are considering their next steps, which include possible legal action.

But Ms Robertson was hopeful the Government would address the issue after it pledged to budget more than £13 billion in compensation for those involved in the contaminated blood and Horizon Post Office scandals.

“Different people have different ideas about how this problem can be dealt with,” Ms Robertson added.

“These groups that want to go to court will only delay everything else, so going to court will really take a long time.

“I hope the actual path will be similar to what they discussed in 2019.”
