You Won’t Believe What This Legendary Golfer Is Offering For Scotty Scheffler’s Old Car (with 200,000 Miles) | Golf News and Tour Information

If you’re a big golf fan, you’ve probably heard of Scotty Scheffler’s car. Despite earning more than $71 million in his young PGA Tour career, not to mention all the endorsement money, Scheffler until recently drove a 2012 GMC Yukon with 200,000 miles. It’s truly incredible when you consider the crazy amounts of money golfers make these days… and yet the No. 1 golfer in the world was driving the same car his dad Scott gave him after college.

It looks like the Schefflers have finally updated Scotty’s ride to include their new son. What to do with an old car? According to a story by Golfweek’s Adam Schupak, Scheffler allowed the car to be sold at a charity auction to benefit Triumph Over Kid Cancer (TOKC), a nonprofit organization that raises money for childhood cancer research. The Schefflers have been involved in charity work for some time, as the organization was co-founded by Scotty’s friend James Ragan. Ragan was battling a rare form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma.

Well, according to Shupak, a recent live auction started at $10,000 and went up to $15,000 before the legendary golfer stepped in. Jim Nantz met Ragan during an event with M.D. Anderson, and since Nantz was a co-VIP with Scheffler at the Houston event, he jumped in and upped the bid to $50,000. Yes, that’s right…$50,000 for a car over 12 years old with 200,000 miles.

Of course, it’s for a great cause…to prove that Nantz is a great guy. But the car obviously has historical significance, and that was not lost on Nantz, as the Schefflers purchased the car in Augusta, Georgia, in 2012 after their car broke down while competing in the 2012 Masters. The Schefflers drove this car around the country to junior tournaments, and when Scotty graduated from the University of Texas, his father gave him the car.

It took a newborn baby and probably enough child safety videos fed through Scotty’s algorithm to convince him that a new car was worth it… finally. It’s good that Scotty decided to shell out for a new car, not only for Bennett’s sake, but also because now a ton of money will be donated to cancer research thanks to his old car falling into the hands of a generous buyer.
