India’s Mahindra reported a 25% rise in car sales to dealers in October due to holiday demand

November 1 (Reuters) – Indian SUV maker Mahindra and Mahindra (MAHM.NS)opens a new tab reported its highest monthly sales to dealers in the current fiscal year, helped by sales during the festive season.

The company, one of the country’s largest SUV makers by market share, reported a 25% year-on-year (YoY) growth in domestic vehicle sales to dealers, largely driven by new launches such as the Thar ROXX.

Indians tend to make big purchases during festivals as it is both auspicious and offers great discounts. This year, the month-long holiday period began in early October.

“The positive momentum continued in the SUV portfolio during the festive season,” the company said in a statement.

Mahindra’s vehicle portfolio is entirely comprised of SUVs and the company has reported higher deliveries to dealers every month this fiscal year ending March 2025, highlighting the trend of higher sales of larger premium vehicles over the small car segment.
