Meet the candidates for House District 38

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – We want to take a look at some of the contested legislative races in the Minot area.

First, we’re looking at three candidates vying for the two open House seats in the 38th District.

Rep. Dan Ruby, R-Minot, is the only incumbent in the race. He has served in the House of Representatives as a Republican since 2001.

Ruby is a permanent member of the Industry, Business and Labor Committee. He also served as Chairman of the Transportation Committee.

Ruby is a Minot area businessman and president and CEO of Circle Sanitation and Noonan Landfill.

Christina Wolf is another endorsed Republican candidate for the 38th District.

Wolf might be new to elected office, but he has served as secretary of the D-38 Republican Party for the past three years.

She has owned a business in Minot since 2011 and has served as executive director of a nonprofit organization for the past ten years.

Wolf also served as president of North Central Women of Minot for two years.

Lisa Hermosillo is running for the Democratic NPL.

She grew up on a third generation family farm and has been involved in the military for the past 11 years.

Hermosillo has worked to raise awareness of mental health issues and founded Talk United Minot, which aims to provide connections and support for airmen, veterans and the community.

JoAnn Rademacher is currently serving as Rep. Larry Bellew pro tempore, who retired from the Legislature late last year.

Sen. David Hogue, R-Minot, the Senate majority leader, is running unopposed for re-election.

On Friday, we will profile the candidates running for House District 40.
