Premiere of My Melbourne: An Intercultural Cinematic Journey in India

Featuring the work of celebrated Indian directors Imtiaz Ali, Kabir Khan, Rima Das and Onir, the cinematic anthology My Melbourne will make its India debut at the 2024 Mumbai Film Festival. Following a successful world premiere at the Melbourne Indian Film Festival, this unique collection showcases diverse themes against the backdrop of the vibrant city of Melbourne.

Produced by Mitu Bhowmik Lange in association with VicScreen and Screen Australia, My Melbourne features the short films Emma, Jules, Nandini and Setara. These works explore themes relating to gender, race, sexuality and disability, resonating with audiences who may have experienced displacement or a desire to belong.

Filmmakers express excitement and pride as they present their films to Indian audiences. The anthology, which showcases emerging Melbourne talent, highlights the fruitful collaboration between Indian filmmakers and Melbourne’s creative scene, and MAMI 2024 serves as a fitting platform for this cultural exchange.
