Tennessee transfers LB to in-state from Wisconsin

Tennessee has done a great job building out its 2025 recruiting class under Josh Heupel. The Vols have the No. 8 class in the nation for the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

The Vols added another talented player Thursday night. Brenden Anez, a three-star linebacker, announced his decision to decommit from Wisconsin to Tennessee.

Anez is ranked as the No. 61 player in the class and the No. 20 prospect in Tennessee. The prospect has been committed to the Badgers since January 2024.

LB Stars at Fred J. Page High School in Franklin, Tennessee. Before moving to Wisconsin, Anez received interest from Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest, among others.

Anez visited Knoxville for the Florida game, and the atmosphere seemed to have an impact on the young prospect. Anez’s arrival will help the Vols fill a need at linebacker. Jadon Harmon and Christian Gass are the other LBs committed to the Vols in the 2025 class.

Attracting in-state talent to stay in Knoxville has been a priority for Heupel. George McIntyre, Nick Moore, Ethan Utley and Radarius Jackson are other talented in-state players who have committed to the Vols in 2025.

“Another thing is the opportunity to play for my home state. It means a lot to me to see my family at all the games. That definitely makes a difference too,” Anez explained.

Anez cited the madness of the Tennessee crowd as another factor in his decision. Watch Anes’ highlight reel below:
