The Menendez brothers’ family desperately needs to be reunited with elderly relatives

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón recently announced that he had recommended resentencing the incarcerated couple in light of new evidence.

Gason said at a press conference earlier this month: “Today, as we move forward with the resentencing of Erik and Lyle Menendez, who spent 35 years behind bars after being convicted in 1996 of murdering their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez , we must acknowledge the deep pain and suffering experienced by the families of the victims.

“For decades they have endured the grief of their unimaginable loss. We also appreciate Eric and Lyle’s continued rehabilitation efforts during their incarceration.”

A source close to Eric and Lyle said the couple hopes Gascón’s recommendation will lead to their immediate release, in part so they can see their 92-year-old aunt, Joan Andersen VanderMolen, as well as their 85-year-old aunt. Terry Baralt, battling cancer.
